W&L Turf Field
The W&L Turf Field was designed by Clough Harbour & Associates and completed in the fall of 2000 at a cost of $2.48 million. The facility serves as the home for the W&L field hockey program and serves as an alternate practice and game field for soccer, football and lacrosse. The University also uses the field for intramurals, club sports and recreational use.
The W&L Turf Field is a 230-foot by 400-foot lighted, multi-purpose facility that features seating for 1,000 spectators. It includes a press box, two scoreboards and a storage building for stowing away equipment. The actual playing surface is a knitted nylon product called AstroTurf 12 and is imbedded with lines for field hockey, football, men's lacrosse and women's lacrosse.
The complex is surrounded by fencing and has a landscaped entrance at the intersection of the lower and upper first-year parking lots. There is also a restroom and concessions building just above the stands, which was completed as part of the Watt Field project.
The W&L Turf Field has hosted a number of conference and national events, including serving as the host site for the 2005 NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championships.
