The Washington and Lee Hillel house, a 7,000 square foot LEED-certified facility, was completed in September 2010 at a cost of $4 million. Hillel House is designated as W&L’s center for Jewish Life, but is open to and welcomes all students as well community members. The completely kosher E. Café includes bagels, smoothies, salads, wraps, and more, and has rapidly become a community favorite. The E. Café is open to the public Monday-Friday and Sunday for breakfast and lunch, and Hillel is available to students 24/7. Its amenities include a kosher kitchen for students to use, free Wi-Fi, comfortable study spaces, a lounge area with cable TV and state-of-the-art meeting spaces including either a 60” screen TV or a drop-down projection screen.
